I was recently alerted to a new scam that people should know about.
In this case, someone had taken pictures from a man's Facebook account, and presumably a clip of his voice from a video that he had posted. Then they opened a video chat with one of his friends, and AI was able to use those pictures and audio to make the person think they were really talking to their friend.
They then asked the friend to send money for some medical emergency.
Considering that it was a video chat and he could "clearly" see that it was his friend asking, he immediately sent the money.
So be aware that if your best friend asks you for money, even if you are video chatting with them, it might be fake.
